The OHSC, or Office of Health Standards Compliance, is a South African independent agency established to ensure quality & safety in healthcare. It monitors & enforces compliance with national health standards in health facilities & investigates complaints regarding non-compliance.

– To protect yourself, post a ‘Right of Entry Reserved’ sign
– Always be polite, but refuse entry to anyone who can’t provide proper ID & state their purpose
– Ask them to return with valid identification; also, to make an appointment.’

Certification and Accreditation:
OHSC certifies compliant health facilities and provides a certificate of compliance, which is a prerequisite for accreditation under the National Health Insurance (NHI) Fund.
